Now onto construction, which is still underway, but the bulk of it is done. Since my carpenter and friend Baron was leaving for North Carolina, every spare time I had/we had was spent on putting this thing together. And with me NOT being a carpenter it took a decent amount of time. First, before putting it together we needed to break it apart. The wood that was on there was about 25 years old!

Taking the old wood off

Taking the naked trailer for a test drive

Once we were ready to go, it was about getting the wood. I had a hard time agreeing to pressure treated wood, knowing that my garden was about to sit on top of it. Not to worry, she is lined so it won’t be touching my precious soil, but nonetheless, not a big fan. 2 1/2 sheets of plywood did the trick to cover the bottom and line the sides.

Before we actually lined the bottom, we framed the greenhouse. Baron scored some cedar from his boss for the very low cost of zero dollars! Cedar was the top choice for it is light weight and doesn’t retain moisture.

Putting the frame on after she stripped

With Baron leaving and having to get his own gear together to move, time got tight. I bid him and his lovely farewell, and I was off to figure the rest out. Baron left with me with an amazing new framed out greenhouse on wheels, my vision was manifest, just a few more steps to go.

Framed out greenhouse

I am going to end this post here. I hope you enjoy the process of this endeavor as much as I do. I am tired and taking the rest of the night off. Peace be with you.

Love,

It’s been a while since I last blogged about this, and a lot has happened since then. And I mean A LOT.

Part of my vision for this project is to stay updated on blogging and recording the steps it has taken me to get this thing off the ground. Now I guess I am using “updated” as a relative term. Aside from working on this mobile garden, I have been working 2 restaurant jobs and teaching 5-6 yoga classes a week….I’m a busy girl for sure. So, since there is a lot of information to cover. I am going to write this portion from vision to now in a couple of blogs.

Lets get down to it though, shall we?

Las fall I remember a walk with my dear friend Lily Flora Meadows (ridiculously beautiful name, I know). As we passed a Toyota pickup, I sort of half jokingly told her about this crazy awesome idea to put a garden in the back of a pickup. We talked and laughed and shared ideas. At the time I was still living with my then boyfriend, Nathan on Rellybub Farm, so this idea was not something I was seriously considering. Here is what we call planting a seed. A few months later when Nathan and I realized that our visions for our lives were not paralleling one another, we parted ways. He is still doing amazing things with Rellybub (click the link above to check it out) and I am doing this amazing thing.

Upon leaving the farm, I re-rooted myself back to Northern Vermont. Here I was in a place of total creation in my life. I knew that I wanted to teach yoga and be a part of growing my own food. Becoming a semi-professional house sitter is a great way to save money, but doesn’t quite lend itself to solid ground and without solid ground how are ya gonna grow food? My mobile garden idea all of a sudden started to become plausible. I knew that I was going to need people to help me if this thing was going to fly….so I just started talking. I talked to everyone who wanted to listen (I still am). A word of advice….if you want to bring a vision to reality you need help and need to be willing to ask for it. Not an easy task for this girl who thinks she can do everything by herself, but vital nonetheless.

The more I talked about it, the more I realized it made me come alive. Howard Thurman said “Don’t ask what the world needs, ask what makes you come alive. That’s what the world needs, people who have come alive.” This saying rang in my head every time I was going to bag the idea. And every time I was going to bag the idea was when it seemed hard or things weren’t going on my time. My heart kept telling me to keep going and so I obliged. That’s the thing about realizing a vision, it takes diligence and patience all at the same time.

First things first, I needed a trailer. It took a bit to find the right one. Lucky me, my friend Baron who was one of my biggest supporters, decided to part with his trailer for a bigger one. Also, as grace would have it he offered to be my carpenter for this endeavor free of charge. Another side note…this project is being done on a very small budget. I find that when we are doing things we are meant to, the universe is there co-creating with us. We just need to when the time is right and be patient in the time in between action. Baron saw my vision, believed in it and agreed to help me attain it. He’s not the only angel in this journey, but a big one!

One of my many angels....thank you!!

I will end this blog with the picture of her before we got started. I hope you enjoy the story. Stay tuned for the next chapter.

Meaghan's Mobile Garden Project-before

Namaste!!

I am in a time in my life, as many of us I am sure are, where we are being called to our true hearts desire. For me this means facing a lot of fears, disapproval, my shadow side and yet embracing them as a dear friend.

Lately I feel as though my beliefs and what I have rooted my heart in are being tested. It is like the Uni-verse is making sure I really want what it is I am going for. These tests are coming in all forms like family, co-workers, dog bites, trees and lovers.

There was a time in my life when anyone disagreed with me or gave me unsolicited advice, I would get angry and project. Because that was an immediate reaction for as long as I can remember, residuals still in fact exist. That I am not quite sure every really goes away, rather just transforms the more I examine my life and how I want to c0-create with it.

In my reflections over the past few years of my life, my responses to people that have challenged my way of life, whether they were aware of it or not doesn’t matter, has significantly changed. I no longer blame or project, but rather take that information and go within. These emotions that get stirred when I have been questioned about choices that I have made have actually helped me considerably refine my truths and adjust the way I speak and act in the world.

I bow to the teachers that evoke in me where I need to refine my way of being in the world. Thank you!

I bow to the teachers who have been a compass and shine their light bright, even if that makes my shadow side come to the forefront of my consciousness….it has helped me raise the bar of my own existence.

In deep reverence….I serve this life.

Here is a poem that I read today that really struck a chord.

Yet, I Came

I had no incense to offer you
Yet, I came.

My hands were empty
I had no tidings
My shoes were worn and muddy
I knew not what you would expect of me
I made some wrong decisions
Yet, I came.

I came and walked around your temple
Doing rounds of 108
I lost count halfway in between
I knew not if I should return to the beginning and count again
I knew not what I should say when I was before you
The rain had me damp from the burden of a tumultuous journey.

Searching,
Always seemingly searching
For what I could possibly offer.

Religion was obscure
But, not wanting to miss any opportunity to know you
I surrendered to every holy place and faith I came across.

I came seeking direction
Walked circles around your statues
I knew not what to offer
My hands were empty
The fruit I had not purchased
From the woman selling alms outside your gate.

I entered nonetheless
Hungry and thwarted by a self-imposed loneliness
And, I was unsure if I was to feed you
Or, you were to feed me?
At times, I even felt unsure of how to pray.

I came as a wanderer
Wanting to offer something Yet not knowing what
Finally, I decided
I would simply offer myself

Have a beautiful day.
